This piece is based on a recoding of the Weddell Seals en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weddell_seal recorded under the thick sea ice in the remote, frozen Southern Ocean around Antarctica, by the McMurdo Oceanographic Observatory at 21m below the sea ice. The similarity between the seal’s vocalisation and contemporary electronic synthesisers is uncanny

In the piece, the seals vocalisation track is mixed dead centered in the middle of the stereo Panorama of the track. The two tones in the background, panning left to right and back again slowly, are seal vocalisations which have been furthered process with some computer based, software DSP processing

Alas the sounds are coming from deep under the Antarctica ice cap as a posed to deep space.
