about

a noise project by Bert Vanden Berghe, and goes from drone and soundcollages to industrial and harsh noise, and everything in between. Passive Cable Theory was born out of the need for a creative outlet for the more extreme and harsh sonic experiments that couldn’t be released as ‘brunk’ or 'INVERTEBRATA'.

'TapeConHazarai' is a track for which I improvised one take of accidental guitar/sounds through a EHX Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai to 1 MONO track (on a laptop) and then doubled/edited it to evocate what I consider to be some kind of magnetic tape atmosphere. No edits were made to the track itself. Main DAW plugin used here is the Aberrant DSP 'SketchCassette' VST which emulates rather convincingly cassette tape artefacts and audio degredation/modulation.

Or in other words… this track is a tribute to the sound of cassette tape, without actually using one.
