My name is Nicolas Gaffric, I am a 46 year old French living in Norway. I studied at the Paris Fine Arts where I discovered experimental music and concrete music with John Cage, Pierre Henry, Francois Bayle, Pierre Shaeffer. I have always been interested in collages of images or sounds. So I started to create computer music but I was never really happy with the result. So I stopped. For about a year, I started to do musical experiments using synthesizers, drones and guitar pedals that brought me to the circuit bending and the creation of instruments. In my research, I also discovered the use of cassettes as a way of sampling via tapeloop. I started making my own tapeloops, I acquired several 4 tracks and walkmans and created a tapeloop based setup. I started a project of experimental music, noise, under the name of Polaroid which consists of live improvisation with tapeloops ( that I record with synthesizers, fields recording and diy instruments ) and I prepare an album for the end of the year or the beginning of the next year. I collaborated with the American musician Federico Balducci on the album "Playing relics". Album on Bandcamp. And you can see some of my experiments on my FB page and instagram (nikopol72)
For the song "Sleep on it", I created three different tapeloops. Two tapeloops are synthesizer recordings, and the third is a synthesizer collage and a tape titled Dave Jonhson's Million Dollar Effective Sales Procedure (Action: How to get your lead to buy today). I play these three tapeloops through guitars pedals and accompanied by a DIY instrument all record live on a Tascam DR-05. I do not use a Daw,
