Dan Opalenik was born in Akron and has worked at several in-house corporate advertising departments, which included years designing ads at the Plain Dealer. Dan has a B.S in Journalism from Kent State University and has been a newspaper reporter and associate editor for The Cuyahoga Falls New-Press, illustrator and photographer. He has published a couple of short stories in small press magazines and created an instrumental CD that received airplay on Cleveland's W.C.S.B. He also worked on numerous Punk/New Wave record jackets (Bizarros, Tin Huey, Unit 5, Bowling Balls From Hell) during the 'Akron Sound' era as an illustrator, photographer and designer.
Dan has had numerous ambient/experimental releases for AEMC Records online compilation albums, and in 2001 had the opening track on the label’s first vinyl release: Communal Music Vol. 10, a joint venture with RealMoreReal Records.
He currently works around the yard, takes orders from his cats, walks two dogs, occasionally makes short videos and watches TV with his wonderful Pam.
