Optonoise - modulations

it's all made from samples from my clunky old AKAI radio tuner though

one thing I like in most of my pieces is the idea of making sounds that are three dimensional even if those dimensions are warped

all my instruments are optomechanical so you get a feel of a real but very alien object making the sounds

so much of todays over produced digital music is completely flat

it's not so relevant for this piece as AM signals are one dimensional 


but the textures and the subliminal ques we get from these things give us a much richer emotional experience in any case

my journey started with me wanting to be post-digital and being 3 dimensional is definitely something I feel we need to return to, to become more grounded if nothing else

and a sense of scanning through dimensions almost mapping outlines of things
