The very first time I'd heard of Christian Renou's work as Brume was sometimes in the mid-1990s. I had read some reviews in a UK independent underground magazine (I think it was 'Music From The Empty Quarter). I then got to hear the album 'Battery Hens Sabotage' and was taken aback by the breadth of ideas, especially his editing work and music and sound that was literally being somehow organically morphed from itself. Brume / Renou was (and still is) France's best kept secret.
