about

Infected Senses (aka Kev Winser) began as a cassette exchange project in the UK, late 80s, producing four-track soundscapes, mash ups, tape experiments and noise. Releases were sent around, the then, thriving international cassette and underground mail art postal network, to other producers, fans and zines. His remix of the recording 'Shimmer' by '20,000,000 Good Reasons' was featured and reviewed in, now on-line,  legendary 'cassette culture' fanzines such as 'Gajoob' http://gajoobmagazine.com/
Work under the name of Infected Senses, was put on hold for some time from mid 90s, as Kev played and toured in various Punk, Indie and Riot Grrrl bands, as well as working in Radio, local music journalism and as a respected DJ on the festival circuit, including being a resident in the Legendary Shangri-La area of Glastonbury.
It was only in the last 5 years, that the name was revived and he got up to speed with digital music production and sound manipulation and is currently studying for a very late, MA in Sound Design/Sound Art at Bath Spa Uni.
It has been a period of quite intense and productive creativity, which has seen over 80 releases, issued on Bandcamp and some very Ltd, physical CD editions. The output initially saw a return to the kind of noise/cut-up material he once produced by analog means but has also now extended into sample-based alt dance/techno, warped synth-pop, dark ambient, drone, noise, and other experimental sounds

INFECTED SENSES

INFECTED SENSES
Infected Senses is the, DIY, electronic production & experimental project for Kev Winser aka DJ Louie Louie. No...

Sensing a resurgence of interest in DIY experimental music and growth of 'marginal' music practice, musical forms, and online communities and producers, in 2017, away from the usual, local band and DJ scene - though they are not totally 'anti' it and in fact, are also significant players in the Devon music/arts scene too - the collective, 'Music Is Murder' was founded, with Harry Sparrowhawk (aka, 'A Waste Of Damnation' and Stuart Crewes (aka 'Anti-social services')

Music Is Murder is a bi-monthly night dedicated to promoting improvised, experimental, noise, weird, non-linear and generally uncategorizable music. Until the lockdown of Spring 2020, it provided a unique, space for audiences and experimental producers to hear, perform and to come out of their bedrooms and online groups and forums for a live audience. They have forged links with similar burgeoning scenes in Bristol and London. All performances are recorded and available on the MIM Bandcamp page. MIM also released its first physical CD compilation in December 2019 thanks to a small arts grant from the Exeter City council.

MIM had its first event since the pandemic in April 2022 and marked it with a Ltd Edition Cassette of these 'outsider' (for want of a better word) artists from Devon and the South West. Physical tapes have now all gone but can be found on Bandcamp https://musicismurder.bandcamp.com/album/no-music-on-a-dead-planet
