I just want to precise that what I mean a train plenty of people going or coming from festivals or fairs, feasts in India …In the same time this train is crossing Delhi suburbs plenty of slums close to the rails. (See my video and its textual description https://vimeo.com/241594901). So Holiday means more situations than Διακοπες witch for the greeks means just "stop working" and also « interruptions" .So we can keep Holiday unless we can find another word to combine with the word train . Its not so obvious because Holiday trains are not existing so we use the title Holiday Train poetically…..Have a perfect day !
Recorded November 2016
Crossing by train the vast areas of Delhi's district ...Along the lines, thousands of huts, shacks, and brick houses are traversed. They are the slums of the railways that are the home to hundreds of thousands of people. As a result of internal migration from the countryside to large cities, shanty towns spread on any unused land. The land belonging to the railways is one of the first options for occupation. Living conditions there are extremely unacceptable. Non-existent or improvised sewerage networks, polluted atmosphere and environment, child mortality, accidents...
In spite of the huge degradation, in some parts of these districts the courtyards and facades of the dwellings, reveal another aspect to the train passengers. Constructions and colors, decorations and compositions of different materials create scenes of an imaginary representation that states - as we often see in the slums of the world- the thirst for life and the expression of freedom of their dwellers .
The video is a recording through the train window. The various scenes and the emotions that they created are expressed by musical motifs of traditional oboe instruments (zurna, shehnai) and bagpipes. On editing, an overall collage of the images with the sounds is made, in order to describe each other
