quirentia - G major thunderstorm

about

Recorded during a thunderstorm in a wooden church, located by the Baltic sea in northern Sweden. The stand up piano used is the same that once was played to accompany a very young opera singer by the name Jussi Björling who visited this very church for a performance in 1916. He was only 6 years old then, and already a professional singer, touring with his brothers. Jussi would become the most celebrated opera singer in the world of his time. The church itself is famous for its warm acoustic qualities built into the structure. The room is 10 x 10 x 10 meters and this is where I make all my sound art. I decided to take the musique concrète concept literal and simply make a field recording of the space itself, letting the piano do a "solo" in the middle. The thunderstorm lasted only a few minutes. I have made a minimum of editing and mastering
