I spend a certain amount of time making old technologies into new. This piece is composed of ELF (extremely low frequency) magnetic radiation recordings of a "modernized" Eiki RT-0 16mm film projector. The projector is "suped-up" with a DC-brushless motor and a switching power supply for the lamp. It runs at 24 FPS and has a setup speed at 12 FPS. During the recordings the projector was running a film loop of a piece that uses footage shot by the Edison Company sometime in the early 1900s.
This collection of singles from ambient/drone artist Michel Banabila features collaborations with Bill Laswell, Salar Asid, and more. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 16, 2022
