Bert Vanden Berghe - 2013
The way I see it, my 'invertebrata' project is and always has been very related to musique concrète.
I randomly detune an acoustic guitar, then listen to the sounds it makes. Then it's a game between the left and right side of the human brain…
In my opinion musiquè concrète is mainly learning to listen to sounds, the human mind seeks connections and relations and structure.
I like to play with that human aspect, deconstructing and seemingly reconstructing, letting coincidence and accidental environmental sounds, be it deliberately or not, play a huge role in what will eventually become the end result - a frozen snapshot, like a fly caught in a drop of resin.
Then it becomes something else, it can be replayed and new aspects can be discovered everytime - it stays the same this time but the environment, the listener, everything else evolves and changes, thus it keeps on being something that happens in the moment.
