Appalled (Nothing to Show)
May 31, 2018
Robert Scott Thompson
This work is created using text fragments from Beckett’s landmark work Waiting for Godot. Materials include metallic sounds, flute, choir sounds and various mechanical sounds. Voice materials are processed using vocoder techniques. Various styles of electronic music synthesis are used in the cultivation of materials and include techniques for spatial positioning using ambisonic techniques. Beckett was an avid creator of radio plays and this composition refers to this kind of context albeit in considerable abstraction.
