about

The Ramsgate Hovercraft (written, recorded & arranged (on May 29th, June 4th-5th, 2014) by Kit Jolly & Mark Bandola
- 3 analogue radios: a 1978 Panasonic, a paint covered 1997 Homebase transistor (some broadcasts were tuned while going through a Crybaby WAH pedal), and an Éton shortwave receiver. Also, an Icom scanner incognito. Transmissions kept raw except for accidental Radio3 broadcast of musique concrete, where Bandola stripped out white noise for ironic purposes. Kit Jolly was possibly happiest when he fed the Archers omnibus edition through the Nova envelope & VCF triggered from a MIDI keyboard. The opening chorale/vox were re-recorded onto an early 70s' Decca cassette-deck & various segments were looped, sped up/slowed down with a Behringer analogue delay pedal. File under: post-modern, post-apocalyptic, adult contemporary.
This is the first airing of Hovercraft music following the release of the debut double LP, 'Arcane Empire' earlier this year. Plans to release a follow up in the autumn are afoot.
