Martyn Schmidt is a spoken word / vocal artist, poet and composer, living in Augsburg, Germany. German radio station WDR II described him as „a pioneer of sample poetry“. In 2013 he has been awarded with the 1st „Prize for Transgressive Art“, supported by Kunststiftung Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Schmidt is doing a lot of live works, including performances at festivals, off space galleries, squats and theaters. Commissional works for radio, TV and art festivals.
Martyn Schmidt is running Atemwerft, a label for vocal arts „and adventurous breath“. 2007 – 2013 he was co-organizer of Augsburgs live series „echokammer“. 2002 – 2004 he was running Augsburgs international spoken word series „Speak & Spell“.
