One year ago, I recorded a sound experimentation with a tape recorder. I used a "material", an object in fact, I put near the playhead, and the result was a surprise for me because I discovered the signal was amplified through the playhead and this process became the tape entirely sensitive to the touch. So I imagined a story with a surgeon I was, with a knife, who was "operating" a tape of classical music that had difficulties to be read... The original recording was nearly 14 minutes long and I decided to use it for the track I created. I combined between them parts of the original recording and composed to tell the story of a "operated" tape to help it ant make it play classical music. So the used sounds for the track are the tape signal through the playhead, the touched and manipulated tape, and some electric signal due to contacts with knife on the playhead.
